8 South Africans among the 100 most reputable people in Africa

South Africa has produced some amazing professionals, comedians, humanitarians and world leaders. Eight of the people listed as the most reputable in Africa come from Mznansi.

Briefly.co.za put together the following list of these amazing South Africans.

Cyril Ramaphosa

Cyril Ramaphosa featured on the list due to his reputation as a businessman, politician and negotiator. Besides being one of Africa's wealthiest people he has also reached the highest office in the land. He playing an important role in helping South Africa transition from apartheid to democracy and also helped negotiate peace in Northern Ireland.

Desmond Tutu

Desmond Tutu is an internationally recognised religious and humanitarian leader. He is very well respected and his work as an anti-apartheid and human rights activist has earned him a special place in international affairs.

He continues to champion the rights of the vulnerable and persecuted in South Africa and the rest of the world.

Makhosi Khoza

Makhosi Khoza rose to prominence for her stance against corruption within the ANC. She refused to back down when she called for the then ANC president Jacob Zuma to step down. She quit the ANC and resigned as a member of Parliament and subsequently started her own political party, African Democratic Change, with the aim of contesting the 2019 general elections.

Judy Dlamini

Judy Dlamini is a self-made businesswoman. She is a qualified doctor but chose to study an MBA when she was 40 and entered the business world. She worked in investment finance and sat on the board of many blue chip companies including that of chairperson of major pharmaceutical group Aspen Pharmacare.

Santi Botha

Santi Botha is currently the chairperson of Curro and Famous Brands. She also serves on the boards of Telkom and Tiger Brands. She rose to prominence at 34 when she became the youngest ever board member of ABSA bank. She is also one of the richest women in Africa.

Thuli Madonsela

The former public protector was hailed for her refusal to back down in the face of political pressure and for exposing corruption within the government. She blew the lid on the Nkandla scandal with her report "Secure in Comfort" and was instrumental in exposing state capture. She is regarded as a person with immense integrity.

Trevor Noah

Although he is a comedian he does more than tell jokes, he exposed South Africa to the world and vice versa and his political satire often does more than making people laugh by also makes them think about the world. He commands an audience of millions if not billions with his late night show in America.
