No two families look or act in the same way and society’s traditional notion of exactly what a family is, has radically changed in recent years.
Devon and Rob have played a small yet infinitely valuable part of challenging society’s perception of what makes a family. The two men are in a committed, loving relationship raising their two young sons.
Devon and Rob met online a couple of years ago, shortly after Rob got divorced. After a couple of months of dating, the couple moved in together and started their new life together.
Briefly.co.za discovered that Rob embraced Devon’s two children from his marriage immediately and according to Devon Rob has been the most incredible 2nd dad that anyone could ask for.
The family shares their daily lives and adventures with the world to show no matter what a family looks like there is goodness, humour and humanity in everyone.
Naturally, it hasn’t been all smooth sailing for the couple and their sons, they live in a conservative Christian part of America which raises some issues with locals. Devon and Rob admit at times it’s hard, but also say they have received mostly overwhelming support from the community.
Both Devon and Rob were raised as Mormon’s and admit that being gay and being Mormon are mutually exclusive, which led them to shed most of their Mormon beliefs apart from the importance of family life.
Devon and Rob clearly love every single moment they get to spend with their children and say their kids surprise them regularly with deep insights, thoughtfulness, kindness and an absolute joy for life.
The couple admits being responsible for two little human lives can be daunting, but brings its own rewards in the complete and utter love the boys have for them.
