The two women eat their chicken feet while a child looks on, but the MEC disturbingly remarks:

"For the sake of the vote, sivale istolo sawathenga wonke amaninqina (we closed down the store and bought all the chicken feet), sold out!”
“Manqinas (the chicken feet) are sold out, local economy! Bayayazi bavotela uANC (they know they are voting for the ANC),” Mazibuko says in the video.

Braaied chicken feet are a common source of protein in Mzansi and sold right through the nations informal settlements. South Africans were definitely offended by Mazibuko's words and took to the comments section to share their thoughts:

The MEC has since apologised for her comments.

"There is a video circulating on social media where I am eating chicken feet during a door-to-door yesterday. It is known that wherever I go, I buy food in the community to support the local economy. Fat [cakes] are my favourite. But I decided to apologise because there were things said [on the video] that may not sit well with people.
“The aim was to buy something to eat because we were hungry and also wanted to support local businesses. It was not vote buying. I apologise sincerely,” wrote Mazibuko

The former president enjoyed the support of many ANC members as he faces corruption charges. According to eNCA, Zikalala promised to support Zuma when he goes to trial after his appearance was postponed to later in May.

SABC reported that embattled ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule also voiced his support for Zuma. Magashule has been suspended from the ANC following his refusal to step aside while facing criminal charges.

Magashule was adamant that he would not be banned and promised not to leave the ruling party. He maintained that he would die within the ANC.

Magashule also said that he would mobilise the nation, not just ANC members in support of the former president.
