Just before the eagerly anticipated clash, a section of Sundowns fans took to the street to lash out at the former Bafana Bafana coach.

Some insulted the astute manager, saying he is a traitor after leaving the reigning Premier Soccer League champions for Ahly. Ndlozi wrote on Twitter:

“Very sorry coach @TheRealPitso for what happened to you... Africa loves you. Even many more @Masandawana supporters can’t identify with those hooligans. They are not the majority & will never be the majority! We love you and are very proud of you. Keep being super iconic.”

Mosimane was also left to rue the behaviour of the Sundowns fans, saying some of the fans even insulted his mother. Mosimane said after the match:

“I was a little bit emotional only when I saw the placards outside and they stop the bus and all these people swearing at me, swearing at my mother.
“I said to myself, what else should I have done for this team to get respect? But it’s football and I understand and I know the person who did that. I know the person who is behind that.”

Briefly News reported that South Africans have been left truly appalled by the way Sundowns' fans treated coach Pitso Mosimane after a recent match between Ahly and Sundowns. Various fans carried signs with profanities directed at the former coach.

A clip shared online showed the agitated fans going out of their way to show Mosimane and the rest of his team their vulgar boards. Locals naturally had a lot to say about the matter, especially considering Mosimane is the former coach of the South African team.
