- Sunday's Date My Family's episode continues to be a talking point
- One user joked about a bachelorette's modest house
- However, another said women from the hood deserve a better life
A joke about a Date My Family's bachelorette's modest house has sparked an intense Twitter debate about expectations in relationships.
One Twitter user, @uKwenama, shared a photo of one bachelorette and her friends standing in front of their modest house. He captioned it:
That house...the [tale] of all slay queens.
His implication was that "slay queens" sometimes live simple lives, yet expect men they date to fulfil their expensive wishes.
However, another user, Silindokuhle Mgabadeli, insisted that women from the hood deserve a better life. She retweeted @uKwenama's tweet and argued:
You guys act like women who come from the hood don’t deserve a nice life. As a black person, you should know better. Majority of South Africans are only just crawling their way out of poverty and you are here making a joke about someone’s house. The classism is disgusting really.
