The people of Zimbabwe have been through a lot in recent years. The once prosperous country had an unemployment rate of over 95% and cash shortages still cripple the nation.
Most Zimbabwean’s struggled just to put food on the table and speaking out against the cause of all the misery was likely to land a person in jail.
Things are finally changing in Zimbabwe and a sense of renewed optimism and hope has engulfed the nation. People are looking forward to the election which will be held in June as the first one without Robert Mugabe.
Briefly.co.za discovered this amazing video of a Gogo in a village, the old lady is so joyful at the prospect of a free and fair election that she breaks out in song and dance.
The Gogo is leading the charge to get her local community prepared for the upcoming election and judging by her energy and enthusiasm it’s a task she relishes.
The Gogo will hope that the change from Mugabe to Mnangagwa is more than just the emperor wearing a shiny new suit.
Rural communities are likely to play a vital part in the coming election and will hopefully not be subjected to the same terrors as in the Mugabe days.
