On Thursday evening, the State Capture Inquiry resembled a divorce court in the midst of a nasty dispute between a couple who had split up.

This comes after former minister Malusi Gigaba wrapped off the night's sessions with a startling account of how he saw his estranged wife Norma Mngoma as an IT executive from a rich family.

Gigaba's comments were in response to an inquiry about whether Mngoma was speaking the truth when he said Dudu Myeni organized and paid for their honeymoon seven years ago.

TimesLIVE reported that Mngoma may have paid for the vacation herself, according to the former minister, because she persuaded him to believe she had inherited her father's fortune.

"I went on holiday in Mauritius, which was our honeymoon. We enjoyed ourselves and spent two or three days and we came back. All along I had presumed her to be responsible for the trip and that she paid for it from her inheritance and wealth,” said Gigaba.

News24 reported that Gigaba said Mngoma is an extensive "liar". According to Gigbaba, Mngoma is portraying a picture as if he is the one who negotiated the divorce and this is not the case.

Briefly News previously reported that Malusi Gigaba disputed Norma Mngoma's testimony. Former Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba insists that his estranged wife Norma Mngoma is just a bitter woman who's going through a divorce.

Gigaba said that Norma is lying about everything and he denied ever having meetings with the Gupta family. Malusi Gigaba downplayed the security threat that disturbed the State Capture Commission and forced adjournment of the testimony on Thursday, 20 May.

According to TimesLIVE, just before 7pm, a note was handed to Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo during the inquiry and he left to take a short break. When he returned, the meeting had to come to a close.
