Chaos erupted in the Pan African Parliament on Monday and South Africans were not impressed. Not only is the event costing South Africans a lot of taxpayers money, but it is an embarrassment on the international stage.

Pan African Parliamentary members fought each other with some exchanging physical blows. The rotation of leadership has become a contentious issue.

Rotation

The issue causing so much chaos is that of leadership rotation, which aims to give each of the five regions of the Pan African Parliament a chance to lead.

There are some who oppose the change and their anger resulted in the chaos which erupted on Monday.

National Assembly Speaker Thandi Modise has called for unity and to respect the rotation of the presidency.

Earlier, Briefly News reported that The Pan African Parliament descended into chaos on Monday with Pan African Parliament members physically assaulting each other.

At one point the ANC chief whip Pemmy Majodina was nearly kicked in the face as she tried to break up a scuffle according to Jacaranda FM.

In other news, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema was heard saying "I will kill you" to a member of the Pan African Parliament. The members are sitting in Midrand today, Thursday, 27 May.

Malema and the aforementioned member of the PAP got into a heated debate where Malema threatened to kill him. The member of PAP was seated in front of Juju and turned around due to the argument.

According to reports, members of the PAP refused to leave the Midrand premises. Although a member had tested positive for Covid-19, the members still demanded that elections of office bearers be held.
