South Africa's representative to the PAN African Parliament Pemmy Majodina reportedly stated that she would be dropping her decision to take legal action after a fellow diplomat allegedly assaulted her during a sitting on Monday, 31 May.

Majodina was attempting to be the peacemaker between opposing parties when she was allegedly kicked by Djibril War, Senegal's representative.

Chaos erupted at the sitting with many members getting into physical altercations with each other. This stemmed from an argument over the rotation of the African groupings presidency position.

According to IOL, the pandemonia was captured on a live streaming of the meeting and brought in panic-stricken calls over an announcement for someone to 'call the police'. The report continued by explaining that Majodina stated that other delegates had come to her aid during the alleged incident.

Majodina does a u-turn

Majodina told SABC News that she would be dropping her decision to open a case of assault against War. The report stated that War had apologised to Majodina, prompting her to drop the legal action she was intending to take against him.

At one point the ANC chief whip Pemmy Majodina was nearly kicked in the face as she tried to break up a scuffle according to Jacaranda FM. War was allegedly fighting with a member of the Zimbabwean delegation.

Chaos at the PAN African Parliament

This is the third time the sitting has been interrupted since Wednesday. The issue which is causing so much anger is the rotation of leaders, which is an attempt to share power amid the five regions.

Julius Malema made headlines on Friday when he threatened to kill Steve Mikaya, a Member of the Pan African Parliament from Malawi. The two have made up and the EFF shared a pic of them shaking hands and making amends.
