Business: Spur Corporation Fights Loss of Revenue, Builds 1st Drive Thru

- The Spur Corporation has opened the franchises first drive-thru restaurant which just recently launched in Karenspark in Pretoria

- The drive-thru service will provide food and other items that are usually available in the sitdown part of the Spur restaurant this includes burgers and chicken wings

The Spur Corporation is celebrating the opening of its first drive-thru restaurant located in Karenspark in Pretoria. The restaurant is focused on increasing convenience and preferences to a wider range of consumers.

The Pretoria based drive-thru restaurant will offer meals that are normally served at Spur dine-in restaurants. These include items such as burgers, chicken wings, ribs and even the well-known Spur onion rings.

Although there are options for certain dine-in meals, the drive-thru menu hosts more snack-centred items such as breakfasts in hand and roadhouse-style desserts.

Sustainability for Spur

Based on reports by The South African Spur's Chief Executive Val Nichas shared her thoughts on the expansion emphasising that the development will be a strong factor in the sustainability of the franchise.

Restaurant sector

Following reports by BusinessTech, the local and international revenue in relation to the restaurant sector for the Spur Corporation saw a decline of 29.5% bringing the total to R2.9 billion, while South African franchised restaurant sales as a whole decreased by 31.0% during the same period.

In other business news, Briefly News recently reported that FNB (First National Bank) aims to substitute its middle-market gold account with a less financially straining account under the name FNB Aspire with the option for individuals to pay their bank fees through the use of an eBucks compensation system.

Customers holding a R99 per month discount account and a yearly income of R180 000 to R450 000 will qualify for FNB Aspire provided they have made at least three transactions a month through the app.

Fees

Following reports by Eminetra, in relation to other accounts, FNB said the monthly account fees will remain in the entry market unchanged for another year and reduce Easy Zero and Easy PAYU cash withdrawals at FNB ATMs to R7 per R1 000 (maximum R2 000).
