- Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has shared a message regarding his future, saying he is staying at the Soweto-based club
- Khune responded to a Chiefs fan on social media who expressed admiration for the experienced number one gloveman
- The fan says he hopes to see Khune at Chiefs for the next two seasons at least and the keeper has replied, saying he will still be seen on local television screens
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has confirmed to his fans that he is still going to be around for a while. This comes after the veteran goalkeeper’s future has been a subject of speculation in recent times.
Khune has been a notable absentee for most Chiefs games this season despite coming in to show his quality skills in their CAF Champions League campaign.
The Bafana Bafana number one has been struggling to replicate his best form in the DStv Premiership where he has been criticised for conceding soft goals under former coach Gavin Hunt.
But because of his vital experience, the North West-born netminder remains a favourite in the Amakhosi family and has responded to a fan who posted on social media.
The Twitter post from ML_Kgatla reads:
“He breaks records. I wish he can play for the coming two seasons then become our goalkeeper coach immediately.”
Khune also responded to the faithful fan, reaffirming his love for the Gold and Black shirt, suggesting that the fans will continue to see him on the television screens.
The post reads:
“I’m still going to grace our screens for a while. Watch the space Fam.”
Briefly News went to the comments section of the skilful gloveman and many fans cannot wait to see the 33-year-old back in action.

"Since Hunt is gone, even my television now starts to give me clear footage of my senior player such as king Khune.”
@ivan Mbongwa said:
"We call it "players' power" for those who don't know. It's when a coach comes and undermine senior players which leads him to lose the dressing room, then lose games, finally shown the door.”
"He's staying this is a confirmation indirectly.”
"Thanks my skipper. I like the energy.”
"What are you trying to tell us Khune?”
“I still believe in you broer.”
Bernard Parker comments on his future
In other stories regarding Chiefs, Briefly News recently reported that striker Bernard Parker said he would like to stay with the Soweto giants.
‘Die Hond’s' contract is set to expire at the end of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season and has reaffirmed his love for the club.
With Amakhosi yet to indicate whether they will retain or release him, the former Bafana Bafana striker says Naturena is where his heart is and that the club is his family.
Parker said to SowetanLIVE:
“Chiefs is very much in my heart, the Black Label Cup is coming up and you know with football that even if you have a 10-year contract you are not safe. What I am doing now is focusing on one game at a time and to do my best for the club. Chiefs is my family and I definitely want to continue and I am enjoying my football at the moment.”
