Tebogo Makhoa: Human Settlements Official Killed in a Hail of 28 Bullets, SA Concerned

- Tebogo Makhoa, a Human Settlements official, lost his life when his vehicle was shot at a whopping 28 times over the weekend

- Reports revealed that the 52-year-old was killed in Spruitview, Ekurhuleni in the early hours of Saturday morning, 5 June

A Gauteng Human Settlements official in the Ekurhuleni region was killed in a hail of bullets after his car was shot 28 times. The incident tragically occurred in Spruitview early in the morning of Saturday, 5 June 2021.

Tebogo Makhoa was just 52 years old at the time of his death. News anchor and broadcaster Redi Tlhabi as well as Crime Watch vice president Yusuf Abramjee both shared the sad news via social media.

The South African reported that Captain Mavela Mosondo, South African police spokesperson, confirmed the news. Masondo explained that police had opened a case of murder after Makhoa's body was found inside a car with gunshot wounds.

A report by News24 stated that Masondo said that paramedics had been called to the scene and Makhoa was certified dead. Masondo added that no motive has been confirmed at this stage.

In other news, Briefly News reported on a SANDF soldier who unfortunately lost his life in friendly fire. It had been reported that the soldier was stationed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to a report by News24, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, her deputy Thabang Makwetla, Secretary for Defence Sonto Kudjoe and SANDF Commander General Rudzani Maphwanya have all expressed their condolences to the deceased soldier's family, friends and loved ones.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced to Parliament in early 2020 that the 1 165 SANDF personnel now stationed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo would be deployed for another year as part of the UN Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO).
