- The story of a teacher, who copied her four-year-old student's hairstyle, went viral on Twitter recently
- According to Ms Bishop, the little girl did not believe her when she complimented her hairstyle
- So, she decided to do something that would remind the little girl she has the power to inspire others
A Twitter user, @JArdoin_814, posted an inspiring story about a teacher who empowered one of her students, a four-year-old girl who felt insecure about her hair.
The tweet soon went viral, reaching almost 150 000 likes and more than 43 000 retweets.
Since then, Ms Leigha Bishop spoke up about why she copied the little girl.
According to Bishop, she complimented the girl's hair, but the little student clearly did not believe her.
"Of course she didn't believe me, so she responded with a 'Sure, Ms. Bishop.' as she walked away," Bishop said.
The student's reaction prompted Bishop to take matters into her own hands, INSIDER reported.
Briefly.co.za learned the teacher decided to copy the braided updo hairstyle, so that the little girl could see she inspired her to feel beautiful with the same hairdo.
Bishop, who has been a teacher for seven years, takes the impact she has on the youngster very serious.
"Teaching to me means to enhance a child's success by promoting their individual growth and their well being in ALL aspects of life," Bishop said, adding, "a child should be celebrated beyond academics, and that is my goal year after year."
Twitter users praised the dedicated teacher for her actions, which clearly made the little girl feel special.
