Ever since the duo took to the football pitch, their talents have been mesmerizing people with their enigmatic displays for over a decade.
Their goal tallies and records are second to none and are as a result of their phenomenal displays on the football pitch.
Throughout their careers, Ronaldo and Messi have broken a large number of records which players of their geneartion may not achieve.
Here are five records held by Messi that Ronaldo will find difficult to break anytime soon.
1. 50 goals in a single league season
In the season 2011/12, the Argentinian genius found the back of the net for an incredible 50 times with a goal ratio of 1.35 in 37 La Liga games that season.
Ronaldo came close to breaking the record in season 2014/15 when he scored 48 goals in 35 games, winning the Pichichi award that year.
2. Winning four Ballon d'Or's in a row
Messi won four consecutive Ballon d'Or awards from 2009 to 2012 breaking Michel Platini's previous record of winning the accolade three times in succession from 1983 to 1985.
On the other hand, Ronaldo has twice lifted the award for two consecutive years in 2013,2014 and 2016,2017 respectively.
The Portuguese icon could have won the Ballon d'Or for the third successive time but was denied by Messi himself who won the award for a record fifth time in 2015.
3. Most assists in El Clasico
Messi holds the record for the most assists in the El Classico with 14 while Ronnie has assisted only once in this fixture.
The Argentine also holds the highest goal scorer in El Clasico history with 25 goals while Ronaldo has 17 under his belts for the Bernabeu outfit.
4. Scoring 60 plus goals in all competitions in consecutive seasons
The goal scoring machines have crossed the 60-goal barrier twice in their careers but not in successive seasons as Messi remains the only player with that record.
The 30-year-old scored 60 goals in 55 games in the 2011/12 campaigns, and 61 goals in 54 games in 2014/15 seasons.
5. Most goals scored in a calendar year
The Barcelona number 10 netted an incredible 91 goals in just 69 games in 2012, breaking the 85-goal mark set in 1972 by German legend Gerd Mueller.
The closest the Real Madrid forward came to beating this incredible record was in 2013, when he netted 69 times in 59 games.
