Heineken recently released an advert for their beer and it was not received very well by many people calling the advert racist.
The advert shows a bartender sliding a beer down a bar, it passes several dark skinned patrons before stopping at a white woman talking to a group of white men.
A slogan then appears on screen “sometimes lighter is better”.
Chance the Rapper took to Twitter to condemn the advert and soon it started trending.
“For decades, Heineken has developed diverse marketing that shows there’s more that unites us than divides us,” Heineken USA stated. “While we feel the ad is referencing our Heineken Light beer—we missed the mark, are taking the feedback to heart and will use this to influence future campaigns.”
Chance clarified himself and said that he was not calling for people to boycott the company and was merely bringing attention to the advert.
