- It’s graduation season and twitter is flooded with pictures of people celebrating their academic achievements
- Npho Duiker is one such graduate who recently was awarded her LLB CumLaude from Wits
- Hailing from the North West Province, she is a former Milner pupil who in matric was in the top 10 of her year receiving six distinctions
Celebrating her graduation with some beautiful pictures on Twitter, Duiker posted a picture of herself along with the comment “Ubabes we LLB(Cum Laude).“
Briefly.co.za gathers from her posts that she is excited about completing this phase of her education and is looking forward to, as she puts it in her twitter bio, “reclaiming my time” now that she has completed the LLB.
She had some advice for people on twitter who congratulated her and asked her how she did it.

To a fellow tweep who commented: “I also want to Cum Laude mine. Teach me” she responded: “Understand the fact that it’s a longish journey. So just trust what you’re doing and stay consistent throughout.“
As any graduate can attest, there is no shortcut to success in studying. The key is consistent work and staying focused on the end goal. While many students face hardships just to be able to study at all, every achievement is worthy of celebration.
Political parties have recently put a focus on education, with parties like the EFF setting an example by their leadership being very transparent in their quest for higher learning, and the ANC announcing that it would be rolling out free higher education over the next five year period in the country so that those who cannot afford it will not be prevented from studying due to lack of funds.
Many of this year and the next few year's classes of graduates faced incredible odds in completing their degrees with almost constant disruptions on campus as student groups have taken up the cudgels of a society that wants more for its children than the past generations received.
As for Duiker, this is just the beginning. She is surely on to greater things and we wonder if perhaps she won’t be a familiar face in the future in courtroom battles to help people who less fortunate than herself.
Standing on the cusp of her future, Duiker has a lot of pressure to achieve even more. As one tweep put it: “I hope in a couple of years we will be referring to you as the people's Advocate ! Shine baby girl”
