"The bus immediately caught fire, instantly killing six people on board and injuring several others," police spokesperson Colonel Motlafela Mojapelo said.

Mojapelo said the workers were from Modikwa Platinum Mine.

When emergency services arrived the bus had already burned to ashes with six victims inside.

Mojapelo confirmed that other passengers escaped through windows, suffered burn wounds and were taken to hospital.
