Five people have been arrested on charges of murder, malicious damage to property, and attempted murder.
Six miners were killed when the petrol bomb was thrown at the bus, causing it to explode. 28 others were injured.
The bus was allegedly the target of the bomb as it was travelling to work with the passengers.
The suspects will appear in the Mecklenburg Magistrate Court on Thursday, Briefly.co.za gathered.
"The bus immediately caught fire, instantly killing six people on board and injuring several others," police spokesperson Colonel Motlafela Mojapelo said.
Mojapelo said the workers were from Modikwa Platinum Mine.
When emergency services arrived the bus had already burned to ashes with six victims inside.
Mojapelo confirmed that other passengers escaped through windows, suffered burn wounds and were taken to hospital.
