- Leleti lost one of her triplets at birth
- She was also trying to come to terms with the onset of vitiligo at the time
- She therefore went through a period of depression
Actress and TV Leleti Khumalo has opened up about battling depression after losing a child and the onset of vitiligo.
Speaking to DRUM magazine, Leleti said she lost one of her triplets at birth.
At the time, she was also trying to come to terms with vitiligo, a skin condition that has resulted in white patches on her skin.
The popular Uzalo actress said:
Losing my child was one of the hardest moments in my life. I was left with too many questions. I cried, I prayed and I blamed myself. It was a double tragedy for me, as I had to deal with my skin condition at the same time.
Fortunately, she managed to get through with tremendous support from her husband, Briefly.co.za learned.
I wouldn't be the mother I am if he was not as involved as he is. He is more involved than I am with the twins. I said, 'If you were not around I don't know how I would have made it.' I can hold on to my career. It is important, because it completes me.
In addition, her husband reaffirmed to her that she was still beautiful despite her vitiligo. Since then, she hasn't been ashamed of it, something she confirmed to a fan on Twitter.
