- Amani Stanley entered into a written contract with Shilla Tony
- Stanley was certain Manchester City was going to win the Premier League
- Tony on the other hand was sure his team Manchester United will carry the day
-There was a similar contract between one John Otieno and Steve Oduor
- Though the Blues was well placed to take the crown, The Red Devils stole the show
Two men believed to be from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, decided to use their wives as bets in a soccer match pitting Manchester City against Manchester United.
In a handwritten contract seen by Briefly.co.za on Sunday, April 8, Amani Stanley, a Man-City fanatic, agreed to hand over his better half to Shilla Tony, a Man-United die-hard, for one week if the Blues loses to The Red Devils in the English Premier League (EPL).
Tony also agreed in writing to surrender his wife to Stanley in the event that Man-United loses the EPL cupt to Man-City.
Stanley wrote: "I Amani Stanley do swear that if Manchester City doesn't take the championship cup today in match with Manchester United, Mr Shilla Tony will take my wife for a period of one week. In my sound mind, I was not forced into this contract."
Tony responded: "I Shilla Tony do swear that in the event Manchester United will not win in match with Manchester City, Mr Amani Stanley will take my wife for a period of one week. In my sound mind, I was not forced into this contract."
The strange contract was signed by both Stanely and Tony and two witnesses.
The much anticipated clash between the Blues and The Red Devils took place at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, 7 April.
Although City was poised for a major victory going into the match, Manchester United brought its A-game to the soccer pitch, thrashing the Blues three to two.
Consequently, Stanley lost the bet and gave his wife to Tony for one week in accordance with their contract.
Elsewhere in Kenya, John Otieno and Steve Oduor also entered into a similar contract where they also agreed to use their wives as bets.
"I John Otieno do solemnly swear that should Man-City take this EPL cup (2017-2018 season) I will voluntarily give my wife to Steve Oduor for one week. I was not forced or under any influence to come to this decision," Otieno said.
"I Steve Oduor do solemnly swear that should Man-United take this EPL cup (2017-2018 season) I will voluntarily give my wife to John Otieno for one week. I was not forced or under any influence to come to this decision," Oduor said
And just like in Stanley and Tony's case, Otieno and Oduor also had two witnesses, Francis Opiyo and Bernard Oloo
It is now a matter of wait and see which of the two giant teams will carry the day after Man-City lost its opportunity to bag the cup.
