Jana Jooste, 27, from Centurion in Gauteng wanted to do something different with her speech for her best friends on their wedding day.

She wanted it to be special, so she knew she’d have to move away from the boring traditional speeches.

So, she wrote them a rap song, which had all the guest in stitches.

Jooste told Maroela Media she did not like doing something ‘normal’, adding she wanted to do something special, “My best friend gets married only once.”

It was not the first time Jooste went the extra mile, as she did something similar for her sister on her wedding day.

She said at first she wrote a traditional wedding speech, but her friends and family encouraged her to do a song.

“The groom’s mother kept saying she could not wait to hear my speech. So, I did not want people to expect a song and then I disappoint them. I decided two or three weeks before the wedding I would go for it and do a song, because my normal speech wasn’t exciting enough”, she added.

She asked her mom what she thought of the song first and she told her to go for it.

She said for every day before the wedding, she would sing her husband and her five-month old baby the song.

Jooste added her poor husband knew every word and her baby girl had to listen to her mommy rap over and over.

She added she would also learn the words while she travelled to and from work daily.

And, despite the weeks of preparation, Joost was extremely nervous about her performance, but added it was all worth it in the end.

Jooste, who described herself as someone who is not usually shy, said after the first three words, it felt like a weigh was lifted off her shoulders.

She added the song contained a lot of ‘inside jokes’ and she was not sure if everyone got the references, but at the end all the guest enjoyed the performances.

Briefly.co.za learned the happy newly weds called her a few days later while on honeymoon to thank her again for the song, which they dubbed the best wedding speech ever.

The video of her stunning ‘speech’ was posted online by Motion Craft Films, and it has since its release received over 20 000 views.
