Easter is supposed to be a happy time where families come together- but for SA Idols contestant Tebogo Louw, the holiday would never be the same again.
Louw, who appeared three times on the hit music show, had lost his brother over Easter to a tragic mob justice attack.
Briefly.co.za learned Louw's brother, 36-year-old Mawande, and his friend were allegedly targeted after they stole a plasma TV and a laptop.
The two friends were severely beaten by a group of men outside the star's home in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.
Sadly Mawande died after the attack, but his friend managed to survive. Police spokeswoman Wynita Kleinsmith confirmed the incident, adding the friend remained in critical condition.
Louw also commented on the incident, adding he was not able to help his brother because he was in Pretoria.
"They were beaten badly. This was a mob justice situation that got out of hand. I got a call from my mother's friend on Sunday afternoon informing me that he was being beaten up and that I should come immediately. But obviously I couldn't because I live in Pretoria and they are based in Stellenbosch," he said.
