Esther Mahlangu receives her honourary doctorate in her own special way

Esther Mahlangu has been awarded an honourary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg for her contribution to the arts.

The artist is known throughout the world but has received no formal training an learned everything she knew from her mother and grandmother. The only two words she can write is her name which she uses to mark her artwork.

Briefly.co.za learned that today she was honoured for her hard work and brilliant ability to produce brilliant pieces artwork which introduces the world to African art and culture.

Last week it was announced that she would be receiving her honourary doctorate tonight and she did not disappoint.
