Hennie Bekker is a director of a private safari company which operates in the Kruger National Park. Bekker regularly wows us and those who follow him on social media with his incredible photos and videos of animals and South Africa’s breath-taking natural beauty.
Bekker says night time drives offers the opportunity to view unique animals which only come out at night. On one such a recent night drive in the Kruger Park, Bekker took an astonishing video of seven male lions attempting to corner a single porcupine.
The porcupine outsmarted the lions and kept its back (and deadly spikes) pointed towards them at all time, after a while, the lions now resembling a herd of sheep sulked off in search of something else to hunt.
Briefly.co.za learned that Bekker said he had never seen a porcupine in the wild before the encounter with the lions. He said his entire tour group was stunned into silence by the drama unfolding in front of them.
The drive started with the group heading out of Lower Sabie. At first, the group only encountered general game, before a jackal decided to tag along with their vehicle.
It was at this point which Bekker heard a strange rattling noise and after investigating its source Bekker found the porcupine.
