Luvo Manyonga jumps to first place: SA long jump athlete breaks Commonwealth record

South African long jump athlete Luvo Manyonga not only bagged the country another gold medal, but he also broke the Commonweatlh Games record.

Manyonga jumped an impressive 8.41m, beating his Australian competitor Henry Frayne, who managed to take second place with 8.33m.

South African athlete Luvo Manyonga has broken the Commonwealth Games record in the men’s long jump event in a massive jump of 8.41m.

The new record breaker was not the only South African to take a place on the podium, as his team mate Ruswahl Samaai claimed the bronze medal with a massive jump of 8.22m.

The long jumpers medal boosts team SA's medal count to- 10 gold medals, six silver medals and nine bronze medals.
