Twin sisters, who graduated together at the University of the Free State, have paid touching tribute to their mom who raised them against all odds.

One of them, Carol Motaung, shared the incredible story on Twitter recently, Briefly.co.za learned.

She began by saying that being pregnant at a young age is not a curse. Their mom had them when she was still in high school.

To make matters worse, her boyfriend — the twins's father, abandoned her. Society also frowned on teenage pregnancies at the time. Carol explained:

People were mocking her, her peers were calling her names, teachers were discriminating her and the community was insulting her.

Carol said despite all this, their mom "received strength from God" and her mother (the twins' grandmother).

Carol thanked their mom for ensuring they went to school:

Today we are university graduates. The same people who were mocking her respect us. Thank you mother for everything. We know the tears. We know the prayers. We witnessed 'God's] Grace.

Carol's followers congratulated them. See some of their reactions below.
