South Coast snake charmer Sarel van der Merwe

Sarel van der Merwe has been very busy this week, he saved an Egyptian Goose which was stuck in pro golfer, Mark McNulty's house.

He had to use an endoscope to spot the trapped bird and was forced to cut a hole in the chimney to help free the bird.

Sarel was also called out to catch a black mamba which was hiding between boxes and pots in a rondavel in KwaNzimakwe, inland of Port Edward.

He had been attending a call fro Oslo Beach, he took the snake with him to fetch his bag which he had left in the car and he lost his balance while reaching into the car, which he admitted was a big mistake. The reptile managed to sink its teeth into him.
