Most people celebrate their 21st birthday in style, they go all out with amazing parties packed with their friends and family.
But, Chantley February wanted to do something different for her 21st birthday- she wanted to give back to the community.
The 21-year-old celebrated her birthday by giving food to the homeless. Her dad, 47-year-old Geroge, could not been prouder of his baby girl, who is now all grown-up.
“She didn’t have to do this, but because of her pure heart and love for humanity, she will be blessed,” he says.
And to make her act of kindness so much more unique, Mr February lost his job just 24 hours before Chantley gave food to the homeless.
“We prepared for this for a few weeks already, not knowing that I would lose my job a day before her birthday. But this is faith, pure faith.”
They managed to feed over 230 homeless people on Tuesday, in front of the Newspaper House in St George’s Mall in the CBD.
According to Chantley, the Bible Scripture Luke chapter 14:13 inspired her idea for her 21st :
“Then Jesus said to the man who had invited Him: ‘When you host a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or brothers or relatives or rich neighbours. Otherwise, they may invite you in return, and you will be repaid. But when you host a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame and the blind, and you will be blessed. Since they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.”, the scripture reads.
Both the birthday girl’s parents are now without jobs, and they were responsible for tuition fees.
However, the first year Public Management student said she’s putting her faith in God.
