Angels weep as Winnie makes her way home

Rain poured down as the heavens opened as struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was laid to rest on Saturday. The former freedom fighter died unexpectedly on Easter Monday, 2 April.

She had been experiencing health complications after undergoing knee surgery last year. A funeral was held for her at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg where political parties across the spectrum came to together to bid the Mother of the Nation farewell.

Briefly.co.za learned that towards the end of the five and half hour funeral it began to rain as Madikizela-Mandela’s body was taken to Fourways Memorial Park for burial according to timeslive.co.za.

Some believe that when it rains during a funeral it is the departed on their way to heaven.
