- Video footage emerged of police officers arrested two men in a Philadelphia Starbucks
- Someone had called the police because the men had not ordered anything
- However, they were waiting for a friend
Video footage of police officers arresting two black men in a Philadelphia Starbucks, apparently for doing nothing, has sparked outrage.
A witness, Melissa DePino, shared the video on her Twitter page, Briefly.co.za learned. She explained what happened:
The police were called because these men hadn’t ordered anything. They were waiting for a friend to show up, who did as they were taken out in handcuffs for doing nothing. All the other white people are wondering why it’s never happened to us when we do the same thing.
Melissa's video went viral, garnering over 198,000 likes and 148,000 retweets. Many expressed outrage at what they termed as "blatant racism."

According to Washington Post, the two men were waiting for Andrew Yaffe, who is seen in the video asking the police officers, "What did they do?"
Police later released the two men without charge. Starbucks also released a statement apologising for the way they were treated.
