- Prophet Bushiri denied allegations he transported R15m to Malawi in his private jet
- He claimed he was not aware of any police investigation into his church
- Another pastor earlier made the claim
Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has termed allegations that he transported R15 million to Malawi in his private jet as false.
The controversial leader of the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church added that he was not aware that the police are investigating him.
Bushiri said he learned of the investigation through the media.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Pastor Daniel Phaladi referred to the allegation during an SABC News interview earlier in April. He cited the reported Hawks' investigation into Bushiri's church.
Pastor Phaladi earlier wrote an article titled, "Do you want miracle money?" It focused on how churches demand money from congregants.
Speaking on SABC News, Bushiri said:
I have never been approached by any law enforcement to say that I am doing anything illegal. I have never been questioned or served any warrant to say I am doing illegal activities.
Since I was born or since I came to South Africa, I have never had any issues with the police.
