Sbahle Mpisane credits her controversial parents for her graduation success

- Sbahle Mpisane graduated with a Bachelor's degree in housing and town planning

- And, she could not have done it without her controversial parents, Sbu and Shawn

- Now, she plans on joining the family's construction business

The celebrity fitness trainer, famously known as the FitnessBunnie, graduated from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) on Monday.

"I chose UKZN because it's always easier to stay grounded when you are close to home. From studying architecture to housing‚ it all goes back to passion in technical drawings‚ reading maps and enjoying practical work.”, she said.

Briefly.co.za learned Sbahle plans to join her family's construction company, despite her parents facing liquidation over a multi-million tax bill last year.

The family received tenders worth millions, however, many questioned the legality of the manner in which they obtained the contracts.

Sbahle opened up about the difficult time she had juggling her studies, social life and fitness business, adding there were times she wanted to quit.

However, she said the thought of making my parents proud was what kept her going.

At the end, with the help of her family, friends and lecturers, she managed to push through.

"I remember being in Mr Vincent Myeni's office and crying my lungs out and all he said was ‘you’re nearly at the end‚ forget everything and focus on completing your studies because you will get all the time afterwards to be a diva and follow your passion in fitness’."
