A 52-year-old man, Owen Diaz, who worked as an elevator operator in Tesla, said that he faced racial abuse in the company while he was on the staff.

While working with Tesla, the man found cartoons that had a bad portrayal of black children. When he told his supervisors, they downplayed it and told him he “couldn’t take a joke.”, Ladbible reports.

Owen won the case

A part of the man’s lawsuit against the company said that Tesla’s progressive posturing starkly contrasts with how shabbily it treats its African-American workers.

After a long four-hour deliberation, a jury finally ruled in his favour. Lawrence Organ, Owen’s lawyer, said that it is a great thing one of the biggest corporations in America is made to face justice for the way it treats black people.

Take billions for your stress

Awarding him, $137 million (R2 041 053 400), Owen was given $7 million (R104 287 400) for the emotional stress he has suffered and $130m (R1 936 766 000) was for punitive damages.

African man secures job at Tesla after building drone, celebrates in cute photos

In other news about Tesla, Briefly News recently reported that a young man who built a drone by himself has celebrated getting a job with US company Tesla.

Making the announcement in a LinkedIn post, Tobenna Uzuegbunam stated that he is still in shock at the thought that he now works in the top electric car-making company. The full-time product engineer at Tesla stated that he knew there was a need to invest in himself before any company would want to do so.

Tobenna appreciated God for guiding him and expressed hope that his story inspires others to understand that some doors close so that bigger ones will open.
