Wednesday's episode of The Queen caused quite the reaction on social media, and although it's just a show, emotions were running high.
The episode included a graphic abuse scene, where Tebogo, played by actor Fezile Makhanya, beat up his fiancee, Kea.
Their abusive relationship has been one of the story lines taking centre stage, but the recent episode took the violence to a whole new level.
And, it took viewers on an emotional journey few where ready for. Taking into consideration it's just a soapie, tweeps said it took them back to similar events they witnessed in their own lives.
"This episode took me back when I witnessed my mother being hit and burnt in a stove by my father. I was only 9 years old but the picture is still clear in my mind", one viewer tweeted.
The Queen incorporated the theme in it's series at a time where it is spoken about widely in the country.
Take the current court case of Karabo Mokoena, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, for example.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier that Pulane Lenkoe gave advice to women who were stuck in abuse relationships. The South African celeb said it was shocking how may messages she received from victims on a daily basis.
