Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, aka Kwesta, is officially the country’s all-time-best-selling artist.
Kwesta made history with his third album, DaKAR II, which reached seven times platinum status by exceeding 210 000 copies sold, which was announced by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA).
Taking to his social media account, the award-winning rapper announced his achievement to his followers.
And, of course he thanked his supporters, who without he would never have reached platinum status.
“Want to say thank you to each & every one of my SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND FOLLOWERS @Twitter old & new! I take it as a SIGN that this milestone coincides with RiSA declaring DaKAR II is now SEVEN TIMES PLATINUM, making it SA HIP HOP’s all-time best selling album.”, Kwesta wrote.
His fans felt they needed to pop the bubbly and celebrate now, then repeat the celebrations once it goes diamond.
He even received a pat on the back from Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa, who took to his Twitter account to congratulate Kwesta on making history.
According to Eyewitness News, the Katlehong Ekurhuleni born rapper felt he wanted to create music that was worthwhile listening to.
Kwesta also credited the other artists who worked on DaKAR II with him, adding it was not a solo effort.
