One of late actor Odwa Shweni's two daughters was still waiting for him to come home and do her hair when he passed away.

Odwa passed away on 12 April after slipping and falling off a cliff while filming a movie scene. The tragic incident happened at the Sterkspruit Waterfall in the Drakensberg.

Family and friends are still coming to terms with his passing. Deputy chairperson of the South African Guild of Actors, Adrian Galley, said Odwa had a lot to offer.

Speaking to News24, Adrian said:

He was a very generous, [considerate] man and quite an activist in relation to helping the society.
Having two daughters, he wanted to create a better world for them. One of the daughters told his cousin, Andrea (Dondolo), that she was still waiting for him to do her hair.

He added that it was sad to see Odwa's family go through their loss.

Adrian called for stricter safety precautions to safeguard the lives of actors while shooting at locations. He explained:

Filming locations – every day you get different environmental hazards to contend with, so safety should be even more strictly enforced.
This is not the Wild West. We have a responsibility to make sure that we run a clean operation.

The oldest of Odwa's two daughters was just seven years old, Briefly.co.za learned.
