With the South African graduation season in full flow, tweeps have shared the most amazing stories.
After a post was shared about Dr Phephani Gumbi, who recently graduated from UKZN in African Languages, a tweep spoke about his late father.
"My late dad Prof SJ Malungana. He is & first Black in Africa to get a PHD (Xitsonga) at RAU now know as UJ -1995. My mom just told me how scared she was. This was just after 1994, sad days of the Republic.", a man only identified as Jan posted.
The tweet inspired South Africans, who praised Jan's father for the legacy he left behind.
"What a legacy to leave behind. This would be inspirational for your family for generations", one tweep replied.
Another social media user pointed out his father was one of the people who was brave and "not fearful of challenging the status quo".
Some questioned Jan if he followed in his dad's footsteps, but he did not reply. However, according to his Twitter account he is in "the business of bricks".
Jan's story is only one of many inspiration stories during the graduation season.
Earlier Briefly.co.za reported of a young man who let his gogo wear his graduation gown.
The Medical imaging and Radiation sciences student, @ScuffBreeezy, took to social media to share photos of his graduation day.
The pics showed the young man taking of his graduation attire so that his grandmother could wear it, and she was just beaming with joy.
