Nonkanyiso Conco’s university friends have revealed how the popular girl’s lifestyle took a sudden upturn about 5 years ago. Conco went from riding in taxis to wearing the latest fashions, having expensive jewellery, her own car and even a gorgeous flat overlooking Durban harbour.
Friends recall Conco as a friendly, popular and thoughtful student who was neither remarkable nor rich. That all changed and seemingly overnight around 5 years ago.
A friend of hers says one moment they rode in taxis and the next moment Conco was just on another level. “The year she came out all hot. She had, like, these diamond rings. We used to gossip about it. She looked really good,” she said.
Briefly.co.za gathered that her friends even joked amongst each other that she might have a sugar daddy or a blesser.
In 2013, when she was 19 years old, she tweeted: “Don’t believe this OMG!!! Am going back to that Hollywood house, to spend the whole weekend this time! #Zuma’s home @Nkandla. Whop [sic]. Can’t Wait.”
Her friends say it was at this time when Conco started going to expensive clubs, throwing money around and started living what could only be described as a lavish lifestyle for a student.
Conco would sometimes mention tenders and overseas trips, but although some of the students in her circle made no bones about having older, richer boyfriends, she was guarded about the source of her good fortune.
Friends say now that it has been revealed that Conco is due to become Zuma’s seventh wife and recently gave birth to his 23rd child the lifestyle change makes sense.
Conco is also very passionate about the ANC according to some of her closest friends.
Conco was forced to resign from her position of national treasurer and communications officer at She Conquers, a women’s empowerment organisation which advocates the independence and empowerment of young women.
The organisation felt Conco’s relationship with Zuma is in direct contravention of the policies and beliefs of the organisation.
