President Cyril Ramaphosa received a pleasant surprise on board a British Airways flight from Durban to Johannesburg on Monday.
The Airline connected Ramaphosa to a praise poet, Lutendo Mugagadeli, known as Vendaboy Poet.
Mugagadeli often sings the South African head of state's praises on social media, and he recently told the Limpopo Mirror be an honour for him to meet and serve Ramaphosa as his official praise poet.
The video soon started to trend online, with South Africans saying it is about time there was a Venda praise poet.
"I was asking myself if there was Venda poets to praise Matamela. for years after democracy we've been witnessing xhosa and zulu poets, now this is diversity. You other cultures, please welcome this Venda poet like we did in the time of Mandela, Mbeki and Zuma.", one tweep commented.
"Can we now have a Vhenda praise singer in parliament during SONA. Don't see see a reason to have a Zulu one while our president is Vhenda", another social media user noted.
"He is the right person to praise sing @CyrilRamaphosa nga maitele a @MyVenda . The previous mistake by @GovernmentZA @PresidencyZA to let Xhosa to preside in @ParliamentofRSA during his swearing in should not be repeated.", Mmaselema Sa Lenaka wrote.
