- A fan had a dream come true when he spotted Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana in Cape Town
- The fan, Ashwin Johri, approached the footballer and joked they should have a drink together later the day
- And, to his surprise, Lallana showed up and even later invited him to hang out with him and his friends
A football fan had an amazing experience in Cape Town when he met Liverpool star and England International Adam Lallana.
Lallana has been taking time off since he got injured, and it appears he decided Cape Town would be perfect to recover.
Ashwin Johri, a football fan, spotted Lallana in the hotel they were both staying at. Johri scraped together the courage to go up to the football star one morning before his breakfast arrived.
According to Johri, he joked and asked if he could buy him a beer later that day and, well, the Liverpool player was forthcoming.
“Now, I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect him to come through. Obviously. We exchanged numbers and he asked me to get in touch once I returned from my day out.”
Johri send the midfielder a message and went down to the bar to wait for him. However, he still had his reservations whether Lallana would pitch up.
“And he DOES turn up. We had a drink each and spoke for a good half hour. He even welcomed the idea of FaceTiming a friend of mine, who’s a massive Liverpool fan. After that, he took his leave. As he was leaving, he said he’ll get in touch.”
Now, this alone would be enough to make any football fan's day, but it did not stop there. The former Southampton star invited Jhori to hang out with his friends after dinner too.
“But what do you know, we meet up again after dinner and this time it’s with friends. The 10 of us hung out decently late into the night, talking football, travel, TV shows, a bit of politics, and your usual fluff.”
Jhori posted the story on Instagram and he had high praises for the down to earth superstar.
Not only is he very humble but also extremely attentive. By no means does he crave the spotlight and is happy to take the back seat and let others do the talking. Inviting a stranger to join him and his friends, after only spending a brief amount of time with them, tells you all you need to know about him.
