- The elderly man's wife was admitted in hospital
- He doesn't have family around to take him there and he's too old to drive
- He therefore called the police to hitch a ride to see his wife
An elderly man in Pennsylvania, US, demonstrated his dedication to his wife by hitching a ride in a police car to visit her in hospital.
The 84-year-old unnamed man's wife, who is also 84, had a medical emergency last week, Briefly.co.za learned.
An ambulance took her from their home to the hospital. Police Chief Jeff Gyurina told New York Post that the elderly man doesn't have any relatives around the area.
The man therefore had no one to take him to see his wife. He's also to old and frail to drive himself. He called the local police department for help.
Gyurina gave him the local patrol car's cell number. A few hours later, the elderly man called deputy police chief Jason Bentley, who picked him up and drove him to the hospital.
