Staying positive: 4 HIV infected South Africans inspire South Africa with their stories

Four HIV positive South Africans living in KwaZulu-Natal have opened up about their status and in doing so have inspired people across the country with their stories.

Discovering that you are HIV positive is one of the most traumatic experiences a person can have and everyone reacts differently to the life-changing news.

Dealing with being HIV positive or having a loved one who is can be extremely difficult and makes many people feel isolated from the rest of society, with their status often being a closely guarded secret.

Hearing from another person who is HIV positive can help a lot, particularly when they reveal who they handled the news and how they live with the disease.

The video below shows how four people have opened up about their status and how their bravery and experiences are inspiring people across South Africa and giving hope to those suffering with the disease and from the social stigma attached.
