The internationally recognised Ndebele artist, Esther Mahlangu, will be receiving her second honorary doctorate from the Durban University of Technology (DUT).
The 82-year-old artist was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Johannesburg earlier this month.
DUT is awarding Mahlangu with the honorary doctorate for her creative use of bold colours of the Ndebele to highlight her heritage in her contemporary works which have become extremely sought after internationally.
She will be honoured in of 23 graduation ceremonies along with 3000 other women who will receive their qualifications.
Andrew Mlangeni, a Rivonia trialist and anti-apartheid hero, will be conferred with an honorary Doctor of Education degree for his part in ending apartheid.
