We live in a world that is full of independent and powerful woman. Gone are the days where females are limited by their gender, we are now limitless.
Some South African female celebrities are breaking the gender conformities by referring to themselves as kings.
The title of king has always showed more dominance, power and reign than that of the title of queen. These women are using this title to show, not only that they are enough, but that they too possess the power.
These women have slayed gender barriers and are not afraid to live up to the title of a man.
1. Thandiswa Mazwai
Power house singer Thandiswa Mazwai gave herself the title of King Tha. Thandiswa celebrated her birthday in true style by gathering her girls to celebrate at the Newtown Music Factory for a show titled KING THA DAY.
Luthando Shosa goes by King Loot. Just a couple weeks ago she let a tweep have it by replying to a post on Twitter
“I call myself KING Loot. My man is about that and loves me enough to vibe with it & support it. Don’t ever disrespect him or me again because your mind isn’t opened enough to get it. It’s not about switching roles, don’t be slow. Women are Kings too, read a history book.”
3. Lady Zamar
Her social media accounts can be seen with the handle King Zamar. Being the King of House Music, she deserves the title.
4. Masasa Mbangeni
She does not exactly call herself a king, but she uses Bhut’ Masasa which means brother. The killer actress is best known for her starring role as the arch-villain Thembeka Shezi on the e.tv soapy Scandal! And she owns it.
