The World Economic Forum has released its Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report. According to Business Insider the report looks at the state of travel and tourism across almost 140 countries from across the globe. The report looks at the safety of tourists in each of those countries. The report uses statistics for serious and violent crimes and terrorism to formulate its results. Petty crimes are not taken into account.

20. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)

The DRC armed forces are active throughout the country and the likelihood of a tourist running into them is rated as high.

19. Thailand

Marshal Law has been in effect in the southern part of the country in the recent past because of severe violence in the provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla
