Mzwakhe Mbuli went on a rant on live television, where he announced he would be taking legal action against Google.
The Sunday Sun reported Mbuli learned from an unidentified source that if his name was searched on Google, his face showed up under “South African celebrities with HIV”.
The poet has opened up to SABC about the internet giant profiling him as HIV positive, needless to say he was not impressed.
“Advocate Mphafolane has taken legal action," said Mbuli, adding "I’ve instructed him to do exactly that. He served the letter of demand to Google South Africa and that was last week. I am sure, in the next two days, they will serve Google with a summons. It is exactly like that, there’s no turning back. We are going for these guys.”
Mbuli’s anger does not mean he did not want to be associated with individuals living with the disease, adding he does not discriminate against those who has it and he had always been a supporter of the cause.
However, the poet does believe his reputation is under attack from someone who would go to the extent to publish the false claims on a huge platform like Google.
“Who are these thugs? Who are these criminals? Who are these mosquitoes who are trying to destroy Mzwakhe Mbuli?” asked the People's Poet.
