- Pitso Mosimane and Percy Tau won coach and player of the month awards respectively
- Mamelodi Sundowns have already won the PSL
- Tau has 13 goals and 16 assists this season
Mamelodi Sundowns' Pitso Mosimane and Percy Tau have won coach and player of the month respectively for the month of April.
The club posted a picture of the two with their awards on its Twitter account on 9 May, Briefly.co.za learned.
Their awards come soon after Sundowns claimed their eighth Premier Soccer League title last month with a game to spare.
In April, the Brazilians won against Chippa United, Baroka FC, Bidvest Wits, Golden Arrows and Ajax Cape Town. They drew against Maritzburg United.
Tau has shone throughout the season with a total of 13 goals and 16 assists. He has been key to the Sundowns' title triumph.
Pundits say both Mosimane and Tau are favourites to win coach and player of the season accolades respectively.
However, in a press conference yesterday, Mosimane hinted that their are some who may not want him to win it. He said:
I don't know what contributes coach of the year. Maybe it's the monthly awards or the games you've won or whether it's the welfare or the social responsibility of the smaller teams.
