Son of a nursing sister, Qiniso Shabalala grew up in a very protected environment. His parents didn’t let him go out and play in the yard and so he had plenty of time to focus on his studies.

This has paid off and Shabalala is currently registered to study medicine at the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University. But it would seem that this was not enough for the would-be doctor and this year he decided to try something new. He entered the Miss Queen and Mr King Beauty pageant in KwaZulu-Natal.

Supporting all the way

Shabalala speaks openly of the amazing support system he has in his life. This consists of his mom, the friends he has made while studying and also the school management who he says have been extremely supportive of him.

Shabalala said the pageant organisers found him on social media and linked up with him. They sent him application forms and he signed up. He was fortunate enough to be selected as one of the finalists.

Shabalala has a heart for community and has said he dreams of opening a number of charities to fulfil his passion to help people.

It seems the bug has definitely bitten because he is fully behind the concept of pageants now and encourages anyone he can to become involved in them if this is what they dream of doing.
