- Manchester United drew 0-0 against West Ham at the London stadium
- The vital point sealed a second-place finish for the Red Devils
- The Hammers have since survived relegation
EPL giants Manchester United settled for a 0-0 draw against West Ham United in a Premier League tie played at the London stadium on Wednesday night, May 10.
The Red Devils suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat to relegation battlers Brighton last Friday, May 4 and therefore were looking to bounce back to winning ways.
West Ham had little or nothing to play for, having survived relegation after their 2-0 comfortable win over former EPL Champions Leicester City in their 36th match.
Jose Mourinho's side needed just one point prior to the West Ham tie to ensure they finish second in the Premier League, their highest league finish since Sir Alex Ferguson left five years ago.
And having bagged a crucial point against the Hammers, the Old Trafford outfit has automatically sealed a second-place finish, with third-placed Tottenham Hotspurs now trailing them by four points with a game to play.
The visitors were without their top marksman Romelu Lukaku who is still recovering from an injury he picked up against Arsenal.
They, however, were boosted with the return of Alexis Sanchez to the squad, but the Chilean had no impact at the London stadium.
Having lost the league title to rivals Manchester City, United will be looking to wrap up their season with a silverware when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup finals at Wembley stadium.
