Terry Pheto turns 37-years-old on Friday, 11 May, and she took to social media to send herself an inspiring birthday message.
Pheto celebrated her 37th birthday by reciting a poem by Derek Walcott called “Love after Love”.
“The time will come when, with elation you will greet yourself arriving at your own door, in your own mirror and each will smile at the other’s welcome, and say, sit here. Eat. You will love again the stranger who was yourself”, part of the poem read.
The South African actress, who shot to fame with her portrayal as Miriam in the 2005 Oscar-winning feature film Tsotsi, ended the poem by saying “Happy Birthday to Me”.
Pheto has since starring in Tsotsi went on to achieve great things in her career. She played in several local movies and soapies, including the SABC1 drama series Justice for All, before leaving SA to pursue a career in Hollywood.
There she received a role in the popular American soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, where she played a heart surgeon named Dr. Malaika Maponya.
Pheto is without a doubt one of the most talented actresses in the country, winning several awards, including the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
