5 Fun facts about African rap goddess, Gigi Lamayne

South African rapping legend, Genesis Gabriella Tina Manney, better known as Gigi Lamayne is far more than one of the leading female voices in African rap today. She has come a long way since having her first poem published at the tender age of 11

Poetry

When Gigi was just 11-years-old she wrote a poem which led to her discovery by Pro Kid and Dankie San.

“I wrote my first poem when I was eleven, it was published at the Poetry institute of South Africa, I went on to be discovered by Pro Kid and Dankie San so that's when my career kind of kicked off."

Cooking

Gigi Lamayne enjoys cooking and she’s quite good at it. “I love to cook, My favourite dishes would be your Sunday meals or a young beef lasagna with parsley and mixed herbs,” said Gigi.

Nailed it

Like most girls, the rapper loves getting her nails done. “I love my nails...the nails have to always be on point, looking good,” said the rapper.

Foot fetish

Gigi said she has a foot fetish and her feet lead the way when it comes to pursuing friendships.

Love name match

Gigi is reportedly dating DJ Citi Lyts, so she gets a kick out the remembering that the first song she wrote was called, “City Lights”. “My first song was called City lights so that's like really really weird," she said.
